Antoine et Manuel
Paris-based artistic duo exploring image, design, and animation, creating multidisciplinary installations and projects with a focus on color.
Antoine and Manuel met at an art school in Paris in 1984. Manuel studied industrial design at les Arts décoratifs while Antoine started working as a fashion stylist, both in Paris.
They began working officially as a duo in 1993, combining their multiple skills to create images, typography, logos, video animations, objects and installations.
Among others, they created logos and visual identities for Collection Lambert in Avignon (since 2000), Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand (2002-2022), the house of Christian Lacroix (2002-2009), Sèvres (2005-2018). In 2009, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris celebrated their multidisciplinary approach by giving Antoine+Manuel 'carte blanche' to exhibit and transform seven rooms in their galleries, followed in 2010 by a larger exhibition of their work at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum 'Antoine+Manuel's Graphic Village'.
Since 2013 they have explored animated video, for the reopening of the salon d'honneur at the Grand Palais in Paris, for the exhibition 'Cartier, l'Art et l'histoire', where they unveiled 'Cartieroscope', a monumental 24-minute animated fresco. In 2015 they are invited to the White Night in Melbourne, Australia, to transform the monumental space of the State Library of Victoria with "Eat me", a site-specific video installation based on Alice in Wonderland accompanied by musician Sui Zhen. Most recently for the Adelaide Festival in March 2018, Animal, a 360° video installation accompanied by a musical composition by Sui Zhen, located in the imposing reading room of the University of Adelaide's Barr Smith Library.
