In my previous projects, I have worked around modes of representation, the museological, ruin, and simulacrum, developing installation-based devices in which space constructs fiction and conditions the gaze.
I currently focus my research on wrapping as a sculptural, bodily, and urban operation.
I am interested in exploring the fissures of what envelops: covering not only as a gesture of protection or concealment, but as a way of sustaining what remains latent. To wrap can mean to protect, but also to hide; it can function as a strategy of survival in the face of a reality saturated with exposure and hyperpresence. Within the urban context — traversed by over-illumination, surveillance, and the constant production of images — the nocturnal emerges as a territory of withdrawal, camouflage, and resistance. Night not as absence, but as an active space where the hidden finds possibility.
The wrapping operates as an interface between body and environment, between form and subject. I ask who or what carries that wrapping: whether the material supports the body or the body activates the form. The pieces acquire anthropomorphic qualities; garments become bodies. Fabrics hardened with beeswax, dried and tensioned clay, paper intervened through technical processes: materials initially vulnerable that, through action, seek to become resistant. This constant negotiation with material reflects a bodily tension: to protect oneself implies transformation.
The works are constructed through the accumulation of layers, gestures, and successive concealments. Each layer is a decision and a form of self-protection. The wrapping becomes epidermis, a membrane that filters and contains; it may operate as a screen or curtain, as an artifact that articulates the public and the private, exposure and withdrawal.
Beneath that surface, an active void is generated: an inner space where what is hidden does not disappear, but remains in a latent state. The project thus proposes a reflection on camouflage, vulnerability, and the possibility of recomposing what has been fragmented. Here, wrapping becomes a way of inhabiting the city from its margins, from that which is covered in order to persist.
