Carles Congost studied Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona. His work is characterised by the re-elaboration of stereotypes belonging to contemporary visual culture in order to question the mechanisms and processes of creation, as well as mechanisms and processes of creation, as well as the artistic field itself, through video, photography, drawing and pop songs. Since the mid-1990s, he has been composing and producing music under the alias The Congosound.
He has had solo exhibitions at MUSAC, León; Espacio Uno/ MNCARS (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía) and La Casa Encendida, Madrid; Espacio 13/ Fundación Miró, Ars Santa Mònica and Centro de Arte Contemporáneo Fabra y Coats, Barcelona. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions in national and international museums and centres, such as PS1/MOMA, New York; Hamburger Bahnhof; Berlin; Palaces of Tokyo, Paris; IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art), Dublin; Museo Carrillo Gil, Mexico DF; X Biennial of Nicaragua, Managua; Manifesta 11, Zurich, etc.
